REMNANT is a motion-tracking experiment exploring nostalgia through 3D point cloud systems. Using TouchDesigner and MediaPipe the project allows users to revisit memories by interacting with abstracted digital objects. The result is an evolving composition that reflects how we reconstruct the past through perception and movement.”
With REMNANT, I explored the feeling of nostalgia by recreating the experience of looking back at objects that no longer exist. Through interactive point cloud forms, users can rotate and examine fragmented representations of flowers, gifts, and personal items, creating the illusion of their prescence. Built in TouchDesigner with MediaPipe hand tracking, the project transforms motion into a way of revisiting and reconstructing a memory.
This project was developed using TouchDesigner and MediaPipe as the main tools. Although I intended to incorporate Ableton Live through the TD Ableton plugin for audiovisual interaction, technical issues prevented full integration. I had to adjust by prioritizing the visual system and interaction design.
My primary audio inspiration was “Plage Coquillage (First Kiss Song)” by TAKU INOUE. I wanted to capture a similar nostalgic feeling through an instrumental, using soft synths and ambient sound.
